The eldest daughter of the late President Marcos said that his dying wish was to be buried at the Heroes’ Cemetery.
Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, the eldest daughter of the late former strongman Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, said on Saturday that to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) is her father’s dying wish.
In an interview on “Balitanghali” over GMA-7, the lady governor said that while former President Marcos was on his death bed over two decades ago, he expressed his wish to be buried at the LNMB, referring to the Heroes’ Cemetery by its Filipino initials.
The late dictator passed away while in exile in Hawaii in 1989, three years after being ousted in People Power 1, the military-backed uprising of Filipinos from all sectors and walks of life in 1986.
In this connection, Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said that Marcos will be buried at the Libingan before year 2016 ends.
Without any elaboration, Atty. Abella said that the “best we can say is it will be within the year (2016)”.
