Every October, Masskara Festival makes all roads lead to the ‘city of smiles’, Bacolod City.
Masskara Festival, the most colorful, loudest and one of the bests – if not the best – is already starting knocking on your calendars with a month to go before October.
Thousands of tourists all around the Philippines and the world are already packing their bags and hurry to book their tickets and accommodations to get to the city that never frowns, Bacolod, making it the ‘city of smiles’.
Masskara Festival is a festivity held every year since it started in 1980s.
Since then, it has evolved into something more fun and more exciting each passing year. This event is hot hard to spot, as you will see masks wearing a smile all throughout.
With September suspending the excitement, the Masskara Festival organizers have already released the schedule of activities to give the visitors a bird’s eye view of what they would enjoy althroughout the festivities.
Here is the schedule of the 2016 Masskara Festival:
Oct 1 – Opening Salvo: MassKara, Kari na!
Oct 9 – MassKara Queen Pageant and Coronation Night
Oct 10-12 – ExtremeMassKara
Oct 11 – MassKara by the Sea
Oct 15-19 – MassKaraLand
Oct 15 – MassKaravan
Oct 16 – Arena and Street Dancing Competition
Oct 17 – Electric MassKara (Elimination)
Oct 18 – Electric MassKara, Charter Day Countdown & Grand Fireworks
Oct 19 – MassKaraRaffle Draw

The best thing about Masskara Festival is that you can never feel alone even if you travel all by yourself. Wearing your smiling mask, you can dance your heart out with the crowd in the tune of canned and live band music trumpeted by huge audio systems all around the streets.
You can get lost to a kilometer of kiosks smoking with grilled chicken inasal (roasted chicken) which is the muse of every table, escorted with beer and other dishes.
But did you know how the festivity started? Please flip to the NEXT page.
Good to know the event is coming soon! If you can only stay 2 nights & 3 days in Bacolod, which days do you suggest? I’m a Photographer. Thanks.
