Meralco Declares Rates Down in Electricity this August
Monday (August 08, 016) Manila Electric Company (Meralco) declares that the electricity rate will go down this August by P0.11 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
Meralco’s electricity rates down by P0.11 this august on typical household and residential area. With a monthly consumption of 200 kWh, a total of P22 in the electricity bill will be reduced and saved by consumers.
Drop of generation charge is more equal than transmission charge this is the reason why electricity rates become possible to roll down within this month according to Meralco. Last year in August 2015 the overall rate is higher by P0.62 per kWh comparing this year monthly rate.
The generation charge at P3.86 per kWh is P0.20 per kWh lower than in July, and is also P0.69 per kWh lower compared with P4.55 per kWh in August 2015. Meralco said that since October 2004 this month generation charge is the second to the lowest charge that has been recorded.
