A peculiar trend of the sudden change of color of the mosques and churches, from green to yellow, has emerged across Kenya just recently.
The facades of mosques in Kenya are traditionally green in color, the churches ditching their typical modest hues and are choosing for a more catchy color, which of all, is yellow.
The change in color of mosques is called the “Color in Faith”, which is an effort to gather the religious communities in Kenya and it is being led by Columbian-American artist Yazmany Arboleda and his Kenyan counterpart Nabila Alibhai.
Why yellow? Religious leaders and artists offer to answer.
“For me, yellow is the color of the sun and the sun shines above everybody”, said Bishop Rose Mungafu. “We painted together to show our people that we as leaders are together and so Muslims will know Christians are brothers”.
Bishop Mungafu’s church partnered with the local Muslim community to paint the church yellow.
