Benjamin Diokno, the incoming Budget Secretary said Duterte gov’t eyes ‘new city’ and a high-speed train.
“New City” to build within Luzon is the Duterte government’s solution to decongest Manila City. The incoming Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said that Duterte is planning to develop the said area for a new and improved community for the people. “Malaki ang magagawa noon to decongest Metro Manila. Mai-improve din ang general welfare ng taong bayan,” he said in an interview.
Possible locations are being considered by the incoming administration including the Clark, Pampanga, citing the international airport that has two parallel runways. The plan includes the prospect for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Clark to be connected via a high-speed train.
He added that if the location of the new airport will be decided as soon the next six month, there is a great possibility that the new city can be functional before the end of the term of the president-elect Rodrigo Duterte.
It has been cleared that the new administration will not consider the underspending unlike the out-going administration. The sect said that there will be an increase in infrastructure spending to about P1 trillion from P800 billion because of the improvments to be brought about.
This projects are considered to be necessities because Metro Manila’s traffic crisis is becoming worse and over populated. Though the current situation has been predicted early in 1980s. In the Transportation aspect, a report says that the daily commute time is estimated 90 to 150 minutes and seems not normal anymore.
