New US Ambassador: “American Economic Investment In PH Will Continue”

Ambassador Sung Kim is the new envoy of the United States in the Philippines, replacing former Ambassador Philip Goldberg.

NEW AMBASSADOR – United States (US) Secretary of State John Kerry reiterated that there is nothing that can destroy the historical alliance between the United States of America and the Philippines despite the tirades of the current chief executive, President Rodrigo Duterte.

Kerry made his statement as the new envoy of the US to the Philippines, Ambassador Sung Kim, was sworn to replace former US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg who previously received criticisms from Duterte.

According to Kerry, the United States has high regard to its relationship with the Philippines and he is confident that the bilateral ties between two countries will remain strong despite of the rhetoric of Duterte but he maintained that America acknowledges the changes as normal and part of democracy.

The U.S. top diplomat also expressed interest to go back to the Philippines before his term ends.

“I will repeat now what I said then: That the United States continues to place a high value on the close ties hat exist between our countries. We continue to recognize our ironclad commitment to the sovereignty, independence, and security of the Philippines. And we will continue to cooperate in efforts to maintain peace and stability, and to promote shared prosperity in the Asia Pacific region”.
