The Civil Aeronautics Board is drafting a measure to ensure that passengers will not wait too long before they could get off the plane due to delayed flights.
The Civil Aeronautics Board (BAC) is set to implement Resolution No. 49 that would require all domestic and international flights to let passengers get off their plane it sat on the tarmac for at least two hours.
In a press statement on Tuesday, CAB said that the resolution will take effect 15 days after publication on August 31.
According to CAB, the counting of the delay will begin when the doors are closed before takeoff or upon landing while the doors are still closed. Once the two-hour mark is reached, domestic flights must be deplaned by the third hour while international flights must be deplaned by the fourth hour.
If the time frame cannot be met, the airplane must present adequate and reasonable evidence for the delay. If the air carrier is not able to present sufficient proof at a hearing, it will be liable for violating Republic Act 776 or the Civil Aeronautics Act of the Philippines.
