PCG affirms the mission to look after the Filipino fisherfolks in the disputed Scarborough Shoal.
PCG – The Philippine Coast Guard has clarified the task set for them along with the recent deployment of the ships in the disputed Scarborough Shoal.
The dispute over the maritime rights in Scarborough Shoal has not yet been fully cleared out. The tribunal’s verdict over the shoal, also locally known as Panatag Shoal or Bajo de Masinloc, sided on the Philippines yet China has not yet fully honored the result.
Recently, the official state visit of Philippine Pres. Rodigo ‘Rody Duterte in Beijing, China has caused the rekindling of relationships between the two countries.
After the visit of the Philippine President in Beijing, the Chinese government has given permission to Filipino fishermen to fish on the disputed shoal. A move that gained different responses.
Also, recent previous news report stated the confirmation of the deployment of Philippine vessels in Scarborough Shoal by the PCG.
