Dela Rosa in Bacolod said, expect narco-cops and narco-politicians’ in Negros in the next list
Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa visited Bacolod City on Thursday, Aug. 25, where he installed the new regional director of Police Regional Office 18 and led the celebration of 115th anniversary of police service.
In a turn-over of command ceremony held at Pavillion Hotel, Police Chief Superintendent Renato “Rene” Gumban officially assumed as the director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Negros Island Region.
He succeeded Chief Superintendent Conrado Capa who will retire from the police service on August 29. Capa is ending a nine-month stint as PRO-18 director when he retires.
Before his assignment to PRO-Negros Island, Gumban was the deputy regional director for administration of PRO-Mimaropa Region.
He is a member of Philippine Military Academy Class of 1985 and had served as director of Iloilo and Capiz Provincial Police Offices.
Dela Rosa was also the one who ordered his assignment in Negros Island Region.
Upon his arrival from Bacolod-Silay Airport, dela Rosa visited hundreds of drug surrenderees at the Bacolod Arts and Youth Sports Center where he told them he will come back after six months to see if they indeed left using illegal drugs.
During the press conference at L’Fisher Hotel, dela Rosa said Negrenses can expect the names of the narco-politicians and narco-cops in Negros Island Region the next time President Rodrigo Duterte name them in public.
“Meron talagang mga ganyan (narco-cop or narco-politician). Hindi natin maiiwasan ‘yan. Pero bantayan niyo nalang. Ayokong pangunahan si president (Duterte)”.
He gave the PRO-18 a passing rate of 7 on campaign against illegal drugs.
Dela Rosa said he already ordered an investigation on the drug matrix earlier released by President Rodrigo Duterte.
“I have already given instructions to the RD PRO1 (regional director police regional office 1) … I instructed him to start the investigation. He has to start it,” Dela Rosa told reporters.
Duterte’s matrix detailed the intertwined roles in illegal drugs of Senator Leila De Lima, the former secretary of justice; former Pangasinan governor and now Pangasinan Representative Amado Espino Jr.; former Justice Undersecretary Francisco “Toti” Baraan III; his brother Pangasinan Provincial Administrator Rafael “Raffy” Baraan; retired General Franklin Bucayo and Pangasinan Board Member Raul Sison.
The senator’s former driver and alleged lover, Ronie Dayan, was also in the matrix. He was described as being known as “Boss De Lima” or “case fixer” in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan, of well-known politicians.
The PNP Chief also graced the awarding of recognition to outstanding police units, individuals, local government units, and nongovernment organizations in the region.
During the awarding ceremony, four police officials and two non-commissioned officers as well as four LGUs, other support units, NGOs, media entities, provincial offices, and police stations were recognized for their accomplishments and support to PRO-Negros Island.
On Friday, dela Rosa will visit Iloilo City for some important activities of the PNP.
