Metro Manila remains to be the most densely populated area in the latest report on population density by the PSA.
The Philippines’ population density has increased by thirty-two percent in the past 15 years, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Population density refers to the number of people residing per square kilometer of the land.
The PSA used the August 2015 census where the country’s population count was 100.98 million people. It was found that the Philippine population density has risen to an average of 337 persons per square kilometer from 255 per sq. km. in 2000. This was 9.4 percent increase from the population density of 308 persons per sq km in 2010.
Metro Manila still holds the record of being the most densely populated among the 18 administrative regions of the country with a population density of 19,988 persons living per sq km of land which is 60 times higher than the density at the national level.
This was 8.6 percent higher than the density of 18,402 persons per sq km in 2010 and by 30 percent from 15,417 persons in 2000.
