Putting an end to endo is a word of mouth of President Rodrigo Duterte but Malacañan just cannot guarantee regularization.
The Malacañan Palace said that it cannot guarantee regularization to contractual and casual employees who are currently working in the government.
This is despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s promise during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) that he will end the so-called “endo” or end of contract among employees, though he was likely referring to those who work in the private sector, but endo is also being practiced in the government offices.
The president also warned the private sector to stop “endo scheme” and embrace regularization but still, there are 500,000 employees in the government who are not regularized.
Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said that the Duterte administration is really having the intention to implement regularization among government employees in order for the government to set a good example.
But Abella admitted that they cannot promise that the scheme can be done in the labor force of the government.
“Definitely the intention is part of such. However, I don’t — we are not privy yet to the actual steps that they will take”, Sec. Abella said.
