WATCH: Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez Awards Centenarian Gift To 102-Year-Old Woman

Mayor Richard Gomez went to the first recipient of the centenarian gift in Ormoc City.

RICHARD GOMEZ – City Mayor Richard Gomez awarded the centenarian gift to a 102-year-old woman residing in Ormoc City, Leyte.

The centenarian gift which includes a P100,000-cash is in line with the Centenarian Act of 2016 or Republic Act 10868 which was signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

A video taken during the time when Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez personally went to the 102-year-old woman to give the award crossed the social media platform.

In the video posted on the Facebook account Richard Goma Gomez, it could be seen that the Ormoc City Mayor explained well about the program to the old woman.

He recognized the presence of the people from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as he was talking to the old woman.

Mayor Gomez then told her that Pres. Duterte has a program wherein the government will give money to those who people who will turn 100 years of age.

He told the 102-year-old woman that the money is for her so she can buy her needs.

Mayor Gomez told the woman that she can bring the money to the city treasurer if she wants and just get the amount she needs every week.

The video posted has reached more than six hundred views on the social media and lots of netizens commended Mayor Gomez in comments to the post.

The centenarian gift is a tribute to the people who have contributed in the building of the nation during their lifetime.

Reportedly, one of the places with lots of people who are in their 100 years of age and above is Iloilo.

Among the 90 plus centenarians in the said place, the oldest is 105 years old. Aside from the P100,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the provincial government vowed to give them an additional of P30,000.
