The incoming Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, outgoing lawmaker Rep. Leni Robredo will not be joining the inauguration of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte. According to Robredo camp, the camp of the outgoing Davao City mayor inform their office to hold the inauguration separately.
The spokesman of Mayor Duterte said that the incoming President from Mindanao wanted a simple and frugal inauguration ceremony which will be held inside the Malacanang Palace. Pres. Duterte noted earlier that only “finger food” will be served before he takes his oath of office.
Pres. Rody Duterte plans to address the nation on national television to “spell out my governance in five minutes,” the outgoing mayor of Davao City stated.
Meanwhile, the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo is preparing for a joint inauguration but since they were informed that Pres. Rody Duterte preferred to inaugurate separately. Robredo’s camp will be having the inauguration in Metro Manila but in unspecified venue.
VP Robredo will be sworn in by the chairperson of the “smallest, farthest and poorest” barangay in Camarines Sur, who is identified as Barangay Captain Ronaldo D. Coner of Brgy. Punta Tarawal, Calabanga, Camarines Sur.
The new term of Vice President Leni Robredo and President Rody Duterte will begin this coming July 1, 2016 and will end up to June 30, 2022.
