Ex-Mayor Binay and two other officials were acquitted by Sandiganbayan in graft case.
The Sandiganbayan has cleared Makati ex-Mayor Elenita Binay, General Services Department Chief Ernesto Aspillaga, and City Government Official Vivian Edna Edurise in graft case.
Undeniably, graft and corruption issues in the political arena in the Philippines are existent. A lot of investigations are being conducted to reveal the veracity behind the issues.
In the desire to let the truth come out, a lot of names are dragged into the center. Some politicians were faced with allegations. To come up with a righteous result, every detail of the issue should be tightly considered.
Previously, some reports entailed of a graft case filed against the former Mayor of Makati City, Elenita Binay. The case rooted from the allegedly overpriced furniture that were purchased for the City Hall of Makati.
This says a lot about the “competence” of Conchita Carpio-Morales.
Not only did she lose the case against GMA, she is losing the string of cases she filed against the Binays.
For sure, her order of dismissal of Sen. Villanueva from his Senate seat will also go NOWHERE. Even Sen. Drilon belittled the Ombudsman’s order by describing it as MOOT – he specifically questioned her “authority” over the Senate. Sen. Sotto also pointed out the Ombudsman’s IGNORANCE of Section 21 of The Ombudsman Act (RA 6770).
The mere fact that on her own—without coursing her decision through the Sandiganbayan—she issued her unilateral dismissal order, exposes her propensity to act as BOTH prosecutor and judge. Does she even know her law? She has become the laughing stock of the legal profession.
