There is a proposal that emergency powers be vested upon Pres. Duterte to solve the gridlock in Metro Manila.
Senator Grace Poe said the proposed vesting of emergency powers upon President Rodrigo Duterte to solve the worsening traffic congestion around Metro Manila can have a breakthrough is the days to come.
On September 8, Thursday, the Senate committee on public services held a consultative technical working group discussion attended by stakeholders.
According to Senator Poe, the Senate is doing its best to formulate solutions to end the worsening gridlock in Metro Manila and neighboring cities.
Poe has previously admitted that some of the programs of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) have not been clear in other places and so they want it resolved in the discussion.
Included in the list of personalities and groups or organizations being consulted by the Senate committee on public services are:
Dr. Ma. Sheila G. Napalang of University of the Philippines (UP) National Center for Transportation Studies. Mr. Segundo Romero, PhD of Inclusive Mobility Network; Mr. Paulo Burro of Bayanihan sa Daan; Mr. Sammy Malunes of Riles Laan sa Sambayanan (RILES Network); and Mr. Domingo Ang Valencia of Hataw Truckers Association.
