The fishermen in Subic disagree with Pres. Duterte’s plan with Panatag Shoal.
SUBIC – The fisherfolks in Subic, Zambales disagree with the plan of Pres. Rodrigo ‘Rody’ Duterte to make the triangle-shaped lagoon in Panatag Shoal or Scarborough Shoal in international name a marine sanctuary.
The issue on the dispute between China and the Philippines over Panatag Shoal has not yet come to an end although the Arbitral Tribunal has already released its verdict month ago.
Recently, Pres. Duterte had his official state visit in China and his visit seemed to warm the relationship between the two countries . After it, China has allowed the Filipino fishermen to fish again in the disputed shoal.
Based on a previous news report, the Palace said that it was pleased with the ‘friendly agreement’ between the two countries which led to the coming back of Filipino fisherfolks in the disputed shoal as they were allowed to fish.
Fishermen then see a merry Christmas approaching them as they can fish again and gain their livelihood back.
