President Duterte is willing to yield to the Supreme Court which is about to promulgate its decision on the petition regarding the burial of Former President Marcos.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte emphasized that he is willing to obey and to implement whatever decision the Supreme Court will issue regarding the burial of the late Former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB).
The Supreme Court is set to promulgate its decision to the petition filed challenging the initial decision of President Duterte to allow the laying of the late dictator to the Heroes’ Cemetery.
According to President Duterte, the Supreme Court is the final arbiter of law which is his basis in allowing the former strongman have a square in the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
The President said, the laying of Marcos at the Heroes’ Cemetery must not be based only on one’s group’s interest or emotion but the law must prevail.
“We will follow what the Supreme Court says, after all, it is the Supreme Court who interprets the law and decide which of the public interests is served among the contending parties. My position is that, there is a law which grants Marcos a burial in the Libingan ng mga Bayani. My position that as long as there is that law, it shall be followed”, President Duterte said.
