The tourism industry of Ilocos Norte has begun bouncing again as the Marcos Mausoleum was reopened.
The Marcos Mausoleum in Batac City, Ilocos Norte was reopened to the public and on the first day of reopening, tourists flock to see the preserved body of the late former President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos.
The late dictator’s daughter, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, ordered to reopen the mausoleum for public viewing as part of the three days of celebration of the 99th year birth anniversary of the former strongman.
The event started on September 9 and is set to end on September 11, the birthday of the Marcos.
But despite the reopening, Marcos corpse is only good for sight-seeing and taking pictures is strictly prohibited.
Marcos was laid at the mausoleum since 1993.
The mausoleum was closed on August 8 to give the Marcoses ample time to prepared for the burial of the late former president at the Libingan ng mga Bayani or the Heroes’ Cemetery which was originally set on September 18, Sunday next week.
