WASHINGTON, United States — President-elect Donald Trump has assured the American people that there will be no conflict of interest between his presidency and business empire, but did not clearly say how it would be possible.
The issue on conflict of interest – reconciling his duties at the White House while owning billions of assets across the world – has been one of the concerns since he won the presidency on November 8 election.
In an interview with the New York Times, the business mogul said, “In theory, I could run my business perfectly and then run the country perfectly. There has never been a case like this”.
“I would assume that you would have to set up some type of trust or whatever and you do not”, he added.
The American President-elect said that he would do something to separate his two areas of responsibility – the presidency and running his business.
