Yahoo marked its biggest security breakdown after hackers stole about 500 million user account information.
Yahoo, an American multinational technology company, confirmed that about 500 million user account information of their service were stolen after hackers intruded their system.
This is considered to be the biggest security breakdown ever recorded by the internet company which is based in Sunnyvale, California.
Included in the information swiped by the cyberhackers were the names, email, address, telephone number, birthday, hashed password and even security questions and answers to verify the accounts of the users.
But despite the incident, Yahoo believes that the hackers were not able to get the sensitive financial data of the users like bank account numbers and credit card data of the clients.
Yahoo said that the data breach happened in 2014.
Information regarding the hackers interference on the database of Yahoo have come afloat on August but no confirmation came until September 22, when the company issued an official statement.
