SM Group founder Henry Sy tops the list of Filipino billionaires who made it to the Forbes’ 2018 List of World Billionaires

Henry Sy, a Filipino billionaire and the founder of SM Group, is included in the list of Forbes’ World Billionaires of 2018.

The said list made public last Tuesday, March 6 and it showed that among the Filipino billionaires who entered the prestigious list, Sy tops them all.

Since 2005, the business tycoon has been the constant richest man in the country.

In the Forbes’ list, the Filipino billionaire tied in rack number 52 with American hedge fund manager James Simons with the estimated net worth of $20 billion, based on the article recently published in Rappler.

Sy was the only Filipino who entered the top 100 billionaires of 2018.

Among them, Henry Sy is the biggest gainer with additional $7.3 billion to his net worth from $12.7 billion last 2017.

Last year, 14 Filipinos was included in the list but it dropped to 12. It is because Edgar “Injap” Sia II, DoubleDragon Properties co-chairman, and David Consunji, DMCI Holdings founder, both passed away already.

On the other hand, the total wealth of the Filipino billionaires in 2018 is higher than last year. It increased to $55.2 billion compared to the $45.8-billion combined wealth in 2017, based on the article.
