12 Administration Slate for 2025 Senatorial Election

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has formally announced the administration’s official slate of senatorial candidates for the 2025 midterm elections. The administration’s 12 senatorial bets consist of a mix of incumbents, former senators, and prominent political figures aiming for a spot in the upper house.

Administration Senatorial Candidate

Leading the pack is Senator Imee Marcos, the President’s sister, who is seeking reelection. Joining her are fellow reelectionists Senators Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Francis Tolentino, and Bong Revilla. All of these figures are expected to rely on their existing political bases and established track records in their reelection bids.

Former Senate President Tito Sotto III, who ran for vice president in 2022, is also making a political comeback. Additionally, former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and boxing legend-turned-politician Manny Pacquiao, who both vied for the presidency in 2022, are eyeing a return to the Senate. Their inclusion signals a reemergence of familiar faces in the political scene after taking a break from the limelight following their national election bids.

The lineup also includes prominent local figures and political newcomers. Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, known for her family’s political dynasty, will attempt to transition from local governance to national politics. ACT-CIS Party-list Representative Erwin Tulfo, a former broadcast journalist and secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), is also part of the administration slate. His previous media and government stints have given him significant public exposure, which he hopes to leverage in his senatorial campaign.

Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar, daughter of billionaire Manny Villar, is another candidate in the lineup. With her political and business background, she is expected to make a strong case for a Senate seat. Rounding out the list is Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Benhur Abalos, who is aiming to shift from his executive post to legislative work in the Senate.

The administration’s senatorial lineup reflects a combination of experience, popularity, and established political networks, making them strong contenders in the upcoming 2025 elections.
