20 cops got positive results on the drug testing that was conducted in the Philippine National Police as a move in eradicating the existence of crime and illegal drugs in the Philippines.
According to PNP Crime Laboratory Director Chief Supt. Emmanuel Aranas, there were 20 policemen who went positive on the drug test that was conducted to them. All of them went through confirmatory tests to prove the result’s veracity.
The PNP Crime Laboratory Director Chief Superintendent said that in that 20 cops who are positive in the drug test, six were from Visayas, nine came from Mindanao, and the remaining five came from Luzon.
As one report has said, the said drug testing was done on May 9 and 22, 238 policemen underwent the said testing.
Those who were positive on the drug testing are given 15 days to prove the results wrong if they are really not into taking illegal drugs.
Aranas said that urine testing was used in determining whether a cop uses illegal drugs or not and when the confirmatory test shows positive results still, it is already an indication of the truth behind the results.
Furthermore, according to him, almost 80,000 test kits were distributed for illegal drug testing in the PNP and so far, a Senior Police Officer 4 (SPO4) went positive securing the highest post among the others who also got the same results.
This drug testing in the PNP is one strategy of the new administration to assure that the policemen’s hands are up went it comes to involvement in the trades of illegal drugs in the country.
In one interview, Sen. Sonny Angara shared that Pres. Digong considers it a treason when one who is suppose to protect the country from illegal drugs is the one who is the cause on its widespread existence and use in the country.
