25 Pesos per Kilo Rice for Sale at the ‘Bigasan ng Bayan’ in Negros Occidental

Today, Governor Bong Lacson, along with Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, visited the Bigasan ng Bayan located at the Food Terminal Market of Negros Occidental (FTMON), next to Ayala Malls Capitol Central. The Bigasan ng Bayan is a project that offers rice for P25.00 per kilogram, with a limitation of five kilograms per person.

The Bigasan ng Bayan serves not only as an effective way to address the needs of the residents of Negros Occidental for affordable rice but also as a step in supporting the farmers of the province. It is run by Negrense farmers in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and the Federation of Irrigators Association of Central Negros – Bago River Irrigation System (FIACN – BRIS).

At the price of P25.00 per kilo, it becomes affordable for ordinary citizens to meet their daily rice needs. This is a step that responds to the primary necessity of the people in the province, especially for families who desire to have an adequate food supply on their tables.

The visit of Governor Bong Lacson and Atty. Rayfrando Diaz demonstrates their support for this project and recognition of the importance of the agricultural sector in Negros Occidental. The province is renowned for its vast farmlands and being a major producer of rice in the country. It serves as a reminder that the province belongs to the farmers, and it should be nurtured and supported for the benefit of all.

With the assistance of Bigasan ng Bayan, we hope to make the lives of the residents in Negros Occidental easier, especially during times of high commodity prices. This is a step that shows the government’s care for the welfare of its citizens and the collective effort to ensure that the primary needs of the people are met.
