4P’s Beneficiaries Will Be Given Cash Instead of Rice

4P’s beneficiaries will be given cash instead of rice according to Senate President Pro-Tempore Franklin Drilon where other government official agreed.

The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) rice subsidy will be converted to cash next year according to Drilon for over 4.6 million Filipinos.

Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno and National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Director General Ernesto Pernia agreed with Drilon proposal during the senate hearing proposal that instead of monthly rice allocation will be replaced by outright cash. They said that cash would be more favorable for the beneficiaries.

“I am glad that our economic managers realize that it is more practical on the part of the government and the 4Ps beneficiaries if the budget for the rice subsidy program is converted into cash grant to augment the monthly stipend received by the poor families,” said by Franklin quoted by Inquirer.
