Jay Sonza Slams Archbishop Soc Villegas over Tirades to Online Trolls
JAY SONZA – Veteran journalist slammed Archbishop Soc Villegas for throwing tirades against online trolls spreading fake news.
Sonza questioned Archbishop Socrates Villegas of Lingayen-Dagupan about his activities against “online” trolls. Villegas stated in his statement that some people earn a life by lying, which he described as “evil.”
“If you are lying and you have made a living and your purpose is not only to make money but to make people better, more hateful people, more divided people, more mislead people, I have no other word for you but ‘evil’. ” said Villegas.
Villegas’ statement was not without criticism from Sonza. Sonza questioned if Villegas is a true disciple of God or an earthly agent of Satan. He further emphasized why his words to Christians are always out of the question according to biblical norms.
“IS THIS A SERIOUS QUESTION FROM A BELIEVER IN CHRISTIAN WORK? Is this man really a disciple of God or a servant of Satan on earth? ” Sonza asked the Catholic Bishops ’Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on his Facebook post.
“Why are his statements to believers always out of the question according to the standards based on what is written in the Bible? Why is the Roman Catholic Church allowing such a despicable attitude, decorum, and evil-laden preaching? Please let me feel more like a demon than a demon when this bishop speaks. ” he added.
Sonza is waiting to see if the CBCP will act on Villegas’s comments. Villegas has yet to respond to Sonza’s dissatisfaction. Even the likely vice president, Sara Duterte, was unafraid to criticize the archbishop for his harsh statements directed at the current administration.
