Harry Roque Offers to Volunteer in DepEd to Help Sara Duterte
Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque offers to volunteer in the Department of Education (DepEd) to help the next Sara Duterte as the next secretary.
Roque stated in his statement that he is willing to volunteer at the Department of Education under Vice President-elect Sara Duterte’s direction. Even if he does not receive anything, the former spox volunteered his services and willingness to serve the Department of Education.
His primary concern, he claims, is to raise the country’s educational standards for his children and grandkids. He is expected to be very involved in whatever way he is able to assist.
“Maski walang sweldo, maski hindi ako kikilalanin dahil ako naman po ay nagkaroon ng dalawang anak at magkakaroon ng apo, interest ko rin po na ma-improve talaga ang educational system natin,” said Roque.
” Kaya ako po ay mag vo-volunteer na maging very active sa department of education in whatever capacity I might be able to help,” he added.
Roque is subject to a one-year appointment ban for campaign losers, so if Duterte does not grant him any position, he will be fine. He stated that one of his goals was to assist the newly elected vice president and a department secretary.
“Hindi po ako hihingi ng sweldo. Hindi po ako hihingi ng titulo dahil may appointment ban. Ang gusto ko lang ay makatulong dahil nandiyan naman po ang sinuportahan ko na vice president,” said the former law professor at the University of the Philippines (UP).
Roque is considered to be close to Duterte and has shown his willingness to back the next vice president. In recent Senate surveys, Roque was unable to get into the winning circle.
In recent senatorial elections, Roque, a former politician, ran but lost. He was a member of the senatorial ticket sponsored by Marcos and Duterte’s UniTeam presidential team.
