Four policemen were allegedly ambushed by the New Philippine Army in Barangay Sibayan, Bansalan Davao Del Sur on March 7, 2017.

The victims were sent to investigate a crime scene in Hinterland village of Sibayan in Bansalan. the said victims of the ambush were Police Officer 1 Rolly Belayo, Police Officer 1 Joe Narvasa, Police Officer 1 Saro Mangutara members of the Bansalan Police Station and another one from Davao Del Sur SOCO, Police Officer 3 Jayden May Rabor and an injured policemen identified as Police Officer 3 Allen Arnado. Senior Supt. Samuel Gadingan, the Davao Del Sur police chief said that the policemen were in the patrol car when they were ambushed at 6 a.m Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Marion Angcao, commander of the Army’s 73rd Infantry Battalion said that “prior to the ambush, there had been reported sightings of NPA rebels near the barangay.” Angcao added that soldiers and elements of the police’s provincial safety battalion have been conducting operation against the suspects.
Lt. Col. Harold Argamosa, commander of the 39th Infantry Battalion based in Makilala, North Cotabato whose area is adjacent to the bansalan said that he has deployed his troops to intercept the said suspects.
