Dr. Angel Alcala pushes that President Duterte should abide by the international treaties.
Angel Alcala – Marine expert Dr. Angel C. Alcala recently aired out his view that the newly elected President Rodrigo Roa Duterte should obey and stay committed to the agreements on the international treaties that Philippines is a member of.
In a report in Inquirer, President Duterte said that the agreement on cutting down carbon emissions in the Paris Agreement would not effect on the Philippines as it would affect the development of economic in the country.
President Duterte stands firm on his belief that the increasing temperature was caused by the developing countries who are indeed fully industrialized and have even reached the apex of industrialization as to him.
Contrary to the President’s stand, both the marine expert and Senator Leila De Lima expressed that the country needs to abide by the treaty.
According to Dr. Alcala, not abiding by the treaty on its restriction of carbon emission would definitely result to endangering the whole world because of heightened temperature.
In the report, the marine expert emphasized that once the newly elected President have expressed that he would be abiding to the international agreements that the country is a signatory or member of. He said his support to it right after winning the election. (Continue reading on next page)
