As the scorching heat of summer continues to bear down on the Philippines, the state weather bureau PAGASA issued a concerning forecast for Friday, May 10. According to their latest update, 25 areas across the country are expected to encounter “dangerous” heat index levels, raising alarm bells for potential health risks.
In its 5 p.m. heat index forecast on Thursday, PAGASA outlined the following areas poised to face intense heat, with temperatures projected to soar between 42°C to 45°C:

- Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City
- Sangley Point, Cavite
- Infanta, Quezon
- Alabat, Quezon
- Aborlan, Palawan
- Cuyo, Palawan

- Masbate City, Masbate
- CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur

Baguio City and Benguet State University, La Trinidad in Benguet, stand out with the lowest heat index at a comparatively cooler 27°C.
PAGASA categorizes heat indexes between 42°C to 51°C as falling under the danger level, indicating a heightened risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and potentially fatal heat strokes with prolonged exposure.
To mitigate these risks, PAGASA urges the public to take precautionary measures, including limiting outdoor activities, staying well-hydrated, and donning lightweight, breathable clothing to alleviate the impact of the oppressive heat.
