Kapuso news anchor Arnold Clavio recently took to Instagram to share the cause of death of his former colleague, Chino Trinidad, a former GMA Network sports analyst. Clavio shared a screenshot of their last conversation, revealing their touching exchange while Trinidad was hospitalized.
In his Instagram post on Sunday, July 14, Clavio recounted how Trinidad checked on him after Clavio had survived a hemorrhagic stroke. Trinidad’s message, now poignant in light of his sudden passing, showed his concern for his friend’s health.
Clavio also revealed the cause of Trinidad’s death and included a heartfelt farewell to his friend. He explained that Trinidad had collapsed at Newport Resorts World around 11 p.m. the previous night. He was rushed to San Juan De Dios Hospital, where it was confirmed that he had suffered a massive heart attack. Trinidad had a scheduled check-up with Dr. Tony Leachon on July 17, but unfortunately, he did not make it to the appointment. He was just days away from his 57th birthday.
Clavio’s post expressed deep sadness and a sense of loss. He wrote, “Wala na Chino Trinidad. Ayon sa ilang kaibigan, mga alas-11 kagabi sa Newport Resorts World, nag collapse si Chino. Dinala siya sa San Juan De Dios, massive heart attack na. May scheduled check-up siya kay Dr. Tony Leachon this July 17. Hindi na umabot. He was supposed to turn 57 this month.”
Reflecting on their last exchange, Clavio added, “Kinumusta mo pa ako noong June 15, ilang araw matapos ako ay nagkaroon ng hemorrhagic stroke. Rest in peace bro. Enjoy your journey. Paki-kumusta mo na rin kami kay ama, Mike Enriquez. Paalam.”
The post garnered numerous comments from fans and colleagues expressing their condolences and sharing fond memories of Trinidad. Many remembered him as a dedicated sports analyst and a good friend.
