Australian Foreign Minister Slammed Maria Ressa For Trying To Dishonor Pres. Duterte

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop slammed Rappler CEO Maria Ressa for trying to dishonor President Rodrigo Duterte.

A video of Rappler CEO Maria Ressa’s interview with Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop which was conducted March of last year gained popularity once again on social media as it was shared on “Christopher Bong Go Page” on Facebook.

Bishop has been a Foreign Minister of Australia since 2013. She is not a newbie in public administration for she was previously serving the Howard Government as the Minister of Ageing from the year 2003 up to 2006.

Aside from that, she also served as the Minister of Education, Science and Training from the year 2006 to 2007.

It can be seen in the video that Bishop slammed all the apparent attempts of the Rappler CEO to destroy the credibility of President Rodrigo Duterte and the programs he is implementing in the Philippines with his administration.

Several questions concerning the top issues in the country was thrown to Australian Foreign Minister such as topics concerning the Asia Pacific Region, the state of human rights in the Philippines, the presidency of Trump, about the West Philippine Sea or South China Sea, and the triumph of President Duterte during the 2016 elections.

Due to the resurfacing of the said video, Netizens reacted that against what was Maria Ressa was apparently doing during the interview and it was to dishonor the Philippine President.

According to some netizens, it is obvious that Maria Ressa was trying to malign the present administration but Bishop was intelligent enough to answer straightforwardly, thus slamming her attempt.

There were also netizens who said that the Rappler CEO was also trying to justify her point which is against the Duterte administration.
