According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the car agent and her husband—a dismissed police officer—were apprehended in Quezon City. NCRPO chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin confirmed the arrest, as reported by GMA Integrated News early Saturday.

The case involves Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido, 38, who was found dead on January 24 in a creek in Pulilan, Bulacan. Authorities said she sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Six days later, her eight-year-old son, John Ysmael, was discovered lifeless at a calamansi farm in Victoria, Tarlac. The boy’s father, Police Senior Master Sergeant John Mollenido, positively identified his son’s body.

Police investigations revealed that Ysmael died due to asphyxia caused by suffocation, adding to the gravity of the crime. The discovery of the two bodies in separate provinces has raised serious concerns and prompted an intensive multi-agency investigation.

Diane and her son were last seen on January 16 and were officially reported missing on January 19 by John Mollenido. Based on initial findings, the victims were allegedly on their way to meet a car agent in Quezon City after selling a vehicle. This planned meeting has become a crucial focal point of the investigation.

Investigators disclosed that bloodstains were found inside the car agent’s residence in Quezon City. As part of the ongoing probe, authorities plan to conduct DNA tests to determine whether the blood evidence matches the victims. Police believe the forensic results could further strengthen the case and clarify the sequence of events leading to the killings.

Major General Aberin assured the public that the police are committed to pursuing justice for the victims. He emphasized that all angles are being explored, including possible motives and the extent of each suspect’s involvement.

The arrests signal a major step forward, but authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. Police have not yet released details on possible charges, pending the outcome of forensic examinations and further questioning.

As the case unfolds, the deaths of Diane Marie Mollenido and her son continue to draw nationwide attention, underscoring calls for swift justice and accountability in crimes involving women and children.
