Clarita Carlos Files Cyber Libel Case Against 5 People
Former University of the Philippines (UP) professor Clarita Carlos filed a cyber libel case against five (5) people due to libelous posts.
Clarita Carlos, the new National Security Adviser, has asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into five people’s reportedly false and defamatory charges against her. Carlos is reportedly protesting against two political analysts, a historian, a lawyer, and a netizen, according to the article.
The National Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the complaint and the five individuals’ social media posts. The NBI has served the lawyer with a subpoena demanding that he explain his position to the agent investigating the complaint.
The subpoena, according to the NBI, will allow the person implicated to make a statement and clarify his position. Former PCGG Commissioner Ruben Carranza was found to be one of Carlos’ complainants. Carranza was served with a subpoena by the National Bureau of Investigation.
The subpoena will allow the person who has been accused to respond. Carlos complained to Carranza over a post he reportedly made on March 2.
Carranza is now based abroad, according to the NBI. They will, however, send the subpoena to his last known address in accordance with the law, based on the report.
