Mayor Espinosa was shot dead inside the jail cell of Baybay City jail past 4 o’clock on Saturday morning after he was allegedly resisting arrest from Leyte police. Rolando was killed together with a certain inmate named Raul Yap after an alleged gun-grabbing attempt, according to Albuera, Leyte Police Chief Jovie Espenido.
The search warrant was filed against Espinosa for illegal possession of firearms and possession of drugs after a raid conducted on his house. The Leyte City mayor surrendered to the PNP after his name appeared on the list of government officials allegedly linked to drugs and he also admits that his son Kerwin Espinosa is a drug lord that was arrested in Abu Dhabi.
