Secretary Panelo believes that De Lima deserves her ouster of from committee chairmanship for a certain reason.
Presidential Chief Legal Counsel Atty. Salvador Panelo said that Senator Leila de Lima deserves her ouster as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights, after holding an inquiry on extrajudicial killings under the present administration.
Neophyte senator and boxer, Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, moved to declare the chairmanship and membership vacant, following the privilege speech of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano during their session on Monday, September 19.
16 members of Senate voted in favor of Pacquiao’s motion. De Lima was then replaced by Sen. Richard Gordon.
Panelo is emphasized that President Rodrigo Duterte has nothing to do with the series of killings of personalities who are linked to the illegal drug trade although these happened only since he assumed office as the 16th president of the Philippines.
He is convinced that it is only proper to oust Sen. De Lima as chairperson of the said committee.
