DOLE Chief Statement: Millions Of Workers Will Lose Their Job If The Next Leader Will Eliminate Contractualization Employment

DOLE Chief statement: There are millions of workers will lose their job if the next president of the country stops any kind of contractual employment.

This is the warning of Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Daldoz as a response to the united position of the presidential candidates that they will end the contractualization in the country.

According to the balita.net, in the third and last presidential debate of Commission on Elections last Sunday, Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Grace Poe, and former Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas, all have declared their opinions opposing to the contractual employment.

Nevertheless, Baldoz driven the candidates to clarify if their scope objection to the contractualization is both legitimate and illegal work scheme.

He added, although that the “Edno” or end of contract is illegal according to the law, there are types of subcontracting that will be considered as legal like industrial subject-based or deliberately temporary like business process out searching, car manufacturing, construction and also showbiz.

“If they do not clear this, many workers may be affected,” said Baldoz.

According to the Trade Union of Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), almost half of the 67.1 million workers in the country are scoped to the contractualization or has the lowest salary with no benefits.

Contractualization As long as the Government will have a Universal Health Care System,salary deduction for a health care premium even on temporary or contractual jobs,. a social security tax and a health care tax even on OFW earnings as long as they maintain their Filipino Citizenship .Trade and Labor union concessions to assure profitability for the corporation but fairness and humane treatment of workers.We make sure that there will be benefits for retirees when they get old such as food , shelter and healthcare.
