DOTr Urges Motorists To Secure Own RFID Stickers

DOTr RFID – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) urges all motorists to secure their own Radio-Frequency Identification Stickers (RFID) by November 2.

Recently, the DOTr announced that they would now require all major expressways to impose a cashless payment system come by November 2. According to an article from ABS-CBN, Toll Regulatory Board Executive Director Abraham Sales said this would reduce both traffic and the spread of COVID-19.

Since payment for the toll would become cashless, this prompts less physical contact thus, avoiding the spread of the respiratory disease. Furthermore, he stated that the RFID stickers would be issued for free. Instead, motorist need only to pay for the card load.

I-avail na po nila ‘yun para pagdating ng November 2 walang abala

The shift to a cashless system was part of the directive covered by DOTr order 2020-012. This order states that concessionaires and operators of toll expressways should implement an electronic toll collection system.
