Incoming president Rodrigo Duterte to push for three-child policy.
Presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte shared his plan to push for a three-child policy in the Philippines. According to him, the policy will probably be part of a family planning program under his incoming administration.
The outgoing Davao City Mayor did not give further details his plan about the child policy and said that he is still thinking about it.
In a press conference, Duterte said it’s time to resume family planning in the country even though the church will not agree.
“Sabi ko, ibalik ko talaga ang family planning. It will do as good. Mas maraming magawa yan, walang kasama’an.. And, ako naman I said I’m a christian but I am a realist and we have to do something about over population,” he said.
The 3-child policy is one of the rules he wants to push when he assumes the office. Aside from that, he also proposed nationwide liquor band, and curfew for minors.
Meanwhile, Dutert criticized the catholic church for meddling in government policies. He also revealed that he received letters from bishops asking for favors.
Furthermore, he slammed the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) for allegedly campaigning against him during the election.
“They campaigned against me, everybody was saying ‘Do not vote for Duterte.’ Fine. I said, let this election be a referendum between me and the Catholic Church,” he was quoted saying.
Rodrigo Duterte will assume the office of the president beginning on June 30.
This is an excellent policy. I practise, he can try through educating the people about population control. ..good for the families and the economy and society in general. This can be done with the Church support and understanding without antagonizing the Church teaching.
