FARMER – A 39-year-old man working in a field in Quezon was struck by a lightning despite the absence of rain during that time.
Often times, when there is a heavy rain in a place, there is a possibility of lightning and thunder to take place. It is believed that lightning is born out of rain clouds.
That is why most people turn their electrical devices off during heavy rains as lightning may have an effect on it. Also, it is not advised to use mobile phones as it may attract the lightning and lead to damages and even to the loss of lives.
However, it seems that lightning can take place even with the absence of rain.
Based on a recent report on GMA’s Balitambayan, a farmer in Quezon City was struck by lightning despite the absence of rain.
The man working in the field was identified as Niño Melgarejo, 39 years old. According to his wife, it was quite cloudy but it was not raining when the lightning hit the place. It was followed by a strong thunderstorm that alarmed them.
Melgarejo was found with torn clothes and he obtained burns from the incident. Based on the report, because the place is far from the city, he was not anymore rushed to the hospital.
The victim left behind his wife and his four(3) children who are at young ages. The owner of the land where he is working already extended an assistance to his bereaved family.
