Executive Order That Prohibits Smoking in Public Places To Be Sign By Duterte, Filipino Reacts
Filipino reacts to the executive order to be signed by Duterte, that prohibits smoking cigarette in public places, similar to what he did in Davao City, announced by Health Secretary Paulyn Rosell-Ubial.
This month President Rodrigo Duterte is about to sign the EO that has similarity to a smoking ban in Davao City. The EO prohibits cigarette smoking in parks, government offices, bus stops, and other public places.
According to a certain smoker named JC Hermosa, a construction worker, the proposed order was very difficult to follow because he can’t stop smoking during his free time or waiting for someone else, especially when he had a lighter and pack of cigarettes.
A sidewalk vendor Tess Carillo said that cigarette ban will affect their livelihood because vending cigarette is their only source of income and she pays the education of her children through selling cigarettes.
