In the regional capital of Northern Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro City, four prominent schools—Xavier University – Ateneo De Cagayan, Liceo de Cagayan University, Corpus Cristi School, and Lourdes College—have decided to transition to online classes this week. This move is aimed at curbing the spread of flu-like infections among their faculty, staff, and students.
An alarming increase in the number of individuals reporting flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough, and body aches, has been observed in the area.
“We are appealing to schools to promptly report cases of headaches and other flu-like symptoms to us. Currently, we are strongly encouraging people to wear masks,” stated Dr. Rachel Dilla, Chief of the City Health Office.
In response to this public health concern, these educational institutions have taken proactive measures to prioritize the health and safety of their respective communities. This decision is part of a wider community effort to safeguard the well-being of all residents.
As online classes are implemented in these schools, individuals are urged to take responsibility for their health and the health of others. Together, by working collaboratively with schools, local authorities, and the community, it is hoped that we can successfully address the challenges posed by these flu-like infections. Source
