Google reenabled FTP support in Google Chrome due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Google officially announced that the company reenabled FTP support in Google Chrome due to coronavirus disease pandemic.
This, as Asanka Herath, software engineer of Google, said in his post to the Chromium bug topic that the company was going to “undeprecate” FTP on the stable version of Google Chrome, thus, FTP support will start working again.
Asanka also said that the reduction of FTPs in Google Chrome would cause to begin again after users were in their better position to deal with “potential outages and migrations“.
Allowing FTP support in Google Chrome by default was made in order to make sure that there’s no problem with its users who were accessing content through FTP sites during the coronavirus disease pandemic.
