In a tragic incident, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and several other officials were found dead at the site of a helicopter crash in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. The crash occurred on Monday in a foggy, mountainous region, prompting an extensive hours-long search and rescue operation.
The helicopter, carrying President Raisi, 63, and his delegation, went missing early Monday morning. Despite initial hopes, rescue teams confirmed there were no signs of survivors among the passengers. The coordinates from the footage indicated the site was approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the Azerbaijan-Iran border, on the side of a steep mountain.
