Karen Davila’s Traumatic Experience In Siargao Receives Reaction From DOT Usec. Kat De Castro

DOT Usec. Kat De Castro reacted to the revelation of Karen Davila regarding her traumatic experience with family in Siargao.

The traumatic experience of Karen Davila and her family in Siargao received reaction from Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Kat De Castro.

It can be recalled that the Kapamilya journalist shared on her Facebook Page the accident her eldest son David encountered during a surfing lesson in the surfing capital of the Philippines.

In a previous article, Karen shared that the more shocking revelation came to them after the accident. There were no life guards on the beach, no nurse, no clinic nearby.

With that, Kat De Castro, who is also a former journalist and now the DOT Usec., replied to the Facebook Page post of Karen.

According to the Usec.,she is sorry upon knowing the untoward incident which happened to Karen and her family in a supposed to be a relaxing island getaway.

De Castro also tagged on her following comment the Regional Director of Department of Tourism Ana Naguid.

She instructed the RD to check if the surfing instructor which accommodated Karen’s son David has the accreditation from the Department of Tourism.

In addition, the Undersecretary of DOT also requested to check why there were no life guards or first aid teams on the beach.

“LGU should be held accountable. Please let me know ASAP and take action immediately,” Kat De Castro said on her comment to Karen Davila’s lengthy post.

Due to this concern from the appointed government official, many netizens commended her.

Several netizens expressed their admiration to her for taking an action immediately to a situation wherein her agency is concerned.

There were also some who thank her for doing her job as the Usec. of Department of Tourism.

One netizen even suggested that Kat De Casto might also want to take a look at the waste management problem in the surfing capital of the Philippines.
