Attorney Mark Tolentino, legal counsel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), has called for a boycott of “Chooks-to-Go” due to what he described as an “irresponsible and unethical advertisement” by the company. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 10, Tolentino emphasized that the ad in question went beyond mere promotion, claiming it could even be considered a “cybercrime.”
“Boycott natin ang Chooks-to-Go! This is an irresponsible and unethical advertisement and considered as a cybercrime!” Tolentino wrote. The tagline of the advertisement, “Sumuko sa Sarap!” allegedly bears resemblance to a past image of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, where he was seen wearing a hat and face covering during a press appearance. This detail, according to KOJC, is a clear reference that they deem unacceptable. Tolentino stressed that the company must issue a public apology to avoid legal consequences.
According to reports, Chooks-to-Go has since deleted the controversial post. However, as of now, the company has yet to issue any official statement or public apology regarding the matter. The delay in addressing the issue has fueled more discussions online, particularly among KOJC followers and Tolentino’s supporters.
Amid this controversy, it remains unclear which specific part of the ad offended KOJC or whether it relates to the group’s religious beliefs or personal sentiments. Nevertheless, Tolentino made it clear that the threat of legal action is real if Chooks-to-Go does not offer a public apology soon.
Tolentino’s call for a boycott has drawn mixed reactions from the public. Some expressed support, while others remained neutral or critical of the idea of staging a boycott over the incident. The advertisement, which some view as harmless, has now escalated into a bigger issue, with both legal and ethical implications.
The situation continues to be closely followed by netizens, with many awaiting Chooks-to-Go’s next move and how the company plans to respond to the allegations. At present, the company faces mounting pressure to release an official statement and clarify its side on the matter.
