Mayor Rolando Espinosa Of Albuera, Leyte Was Killed Inside Jail Cell
On Saturday (November 05, 2016), Albuera PNP chief Jovie Espenido confirmed that Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. was shot dead inside the jail.
Past 4 o’clock on Saturday morning after an alleged gun-grabbing attempt and resisting arrest from authorities, Espinosa together with his so-detainee Raul Yap was killed inside their jail cell at the Baybay, Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail.
The two detainees have allegedly resisted the arrest after the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) officers of Leyte went to the prison serve an arrest warrant for illegal possession of firearms, according to Espenido.
Earlier, Espinosa was charged with illegal possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and possession of drugs which at least 11.5 kg of the illegal substance was found after a raid on his house were conducted. Rolando was the father of the alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, that was last month under the custody of Interpol and in process of being deported.
