Louis Vuitton topped the list as the world’s most valuable luxury brand in this year’s BrandZ Top 75 Most Valuable Global Retail Brands Ranking.
This, as WPP and Kantar revealed the world’s top 75 retail brands amid a global pandemic due to the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19. The valuation behind the said ranking was conducted annually by Kantar.
The said ranking covered pure retail, fast-food, apparel, and luxury brands in the world. Also, the valuations data, including brands’ stock price performance through to mid-April of 2020, was done on April 17 to reflect the impact of the global crisis caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
When ranked according to luxury brands, Louis Vuitton topped the list as the company has a brand value of USD 51.8 billion, followed by Chanel with USD 36.1 billion and Hermès with USD 33 billion.
With its creative partnerships with well-known artists as well as having a global flagship store in South Korea, Louis Vuitton continued to dominate as its brand value was increased by about 15% compared to last year. Despite the global pandemic caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, the company shifted its production line as Louis Vuitton began producing hand sanitizers.
When based on the overall rank, the company was placed 5th, followed by Chanel at 9th place and Hermès at 10th spot.
In other categories, Nike became the world’s most valuable apparel brand in the world and was the only apparel brand that made it to the top 10.
