Senator Risa Hontiveros recently revealed that Alice Guo, the dismissed mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, has left the Philippines. According to Hontiveros, Guo departed the country on July 17 and reportedly entered Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the following day. Afterward, Guo allegedly traveled to Singapore, where she was said to have met with her father, her Chinese mother, her brother Wesley, and a certain Cassandra Ong. The senator expressed outrage over Guo’s departure, suspecting that she had been aided by officials within the government.
“Who allowed this travesty to happen? Sino ang may kagagawan nito?” Hontiveros questioned in a strongly worded statement. “Hindi makakaalis si Alice Guo kung walang tumulong sa kaniya na mga opisyales ng pamahalaan. Para tayong ginisa sa sarili nating mantika.” The senator’s remarks underscored her belief that government officials may have facilitated Guo’s exit despite her legal troubles.
Guo’s departure has raised suspicions due to her dismissal from office, which stemmed from her alleged involvement in various controversies during her time as mayor. Her sudden exit has led to concerns about the integrity of the country’s law enforcement and immigration processes, prompting Hontiveros to call for accountability from those who may have assisted Guo in fleeing the country.

Hontiveros has urged authorities to investigate how Guo managed to leave the Philippines without being stopped. Given the nature of her dismissal and the ongoing cases against her, Guo’s exit suggests lapses in immigration control. The senator emphasized that such incidents undermine the rule of law and accountability, especially when public officials are implicated in helping individuals like Guo evade justice.

As of now, there has been no official response from the government regarding Hontiveros’ claims. The whereabouts of Guo and the details surrounding her travels remain uncertain. However, Hontiveros’ strong statements have sparked a call for a thorough investigation to determine if government officials were indeed involved in helping Guo leave the country and avoid facing legal consequences.
