Philippine Weather Alert Spreads False Typhoon News on Facebook

A recent post from a seemingly fake news Pedler Facebook page named Philippine Weather Alert has been causing alarm among citizens still recovering from the devastation brought by Super Typhoon Carina.

Fake News Post

Fake Post

However, there has been no advisory from PAGASA or any government agency regarding this, making it clear that this post is fake and only serves to cause unnecessary worry among citizens who are still recovering from the impact of Typhoon Carina.

Previously, PAGASA had to call out a fake post, which has since been deleted, claiming that a super typhoon stronger than Yolanda, called “Lakas,” was going to hit the country. If you check the Facebook page, you will see that most of their posts are filled with fearmongering and deceit, often consisting of screenshots and fabricated stories.

Everyone must be discerning and not believe fake posts that are only looking to gain likes and shares on social media. It is hoped that the government will take action against such posts and penalize those behind them.
